How to clean pet urine off carpets?

Cleaning pet urine off carpets can present a challenge, but fear not! We have outlined six steps that you can follow to effectively clean the affected area.

Cleaning pet urine off carpets can be a bit challenging, but here are some steps you can follow to effectively clean the area:

  1. Blot up the urine: Use paper towels or a clean cloth to blot up as much urine as possible. Press down firmly to absorb as much liquid as possible. You can also use a wet/dry vacuum to remove any excess liquid.
  2. Apply a cleaning solution: Mix a cleaning solution of 1 cup white vinegar and 1 cup warm water. Apply the solution to the affected area and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. The vinegar will help to neutralize the odour and break down any remaining urine.
  3. Blot up the cleaning solution: Use a clean cloth or paper towel to blot up the cleaning solution. Be sure to press down firmly to absorb as much liquid as possible.
  4. Rinse with water: Rinse the affected area with clean water to remove any remaining cleaning solution. Blot the area dry with a clean towel.
  5. Apply an enzyme cleaner: Enzyme cleaners are specifically designed to break down the proteins in pet urine and remove the odour. Follow the instructions on the cleaner and apply it to the affected area. Let it sit for the recommended amount of time before blotting it up with a clean cloth.
  6. Allow the carpet to dry: Open windows or use fans to help the carpet dry faster. Make sure the area is completely dry before allowing your pet to use the carpet again.

It is not recommended to use steam cleaners to clean pet urine stains as the heat can set the stain and make it more difficult to remove.
